Lately I have been stuck in a cycle of losing weight/gaining weight and staying on track/getting off track. So I’ve decided to create a plan for myself to get myself back on track and break this cycle. I’m dealing with food addition issues and emotional eating and it’s not easy to break those habits. These are habits that I’ve had for many years and it’s not easy, but I have to do it anyway.
So here is my plan to stay on track:
- Track everything I eat, even if I go over my points.
It’s easy to just not track something and pretend that I didn’t eat it, but every point counts. Most of the time I pre-track all of my food and I will continue doing so, but if I eat something I haven’t tracked already, then I will definitely track it.
- If I overindulge in food, just get right back on track right away.
When I’ve gone off track a bit, I tend to have the mindset that since I already went over my points I might as well blow the whole day. This is obviously an unhealthy way of thinking and it just leads to more unhealthy eating. So even if I do slip up a bit and eat something I hadn’t planned, I’m going to not dwell on it and just keep moving forward with my day as planned.
- Don’t keep trigger foods in the house.
This is an important thing for me since I deal with emotional eating and food addiction. If I have foods in my house that I tend to overeat, it is hard for me to control myself. So it is best to just keep those foods out of the house and not buy them. If I don’t buy them, I can’t eat them.
- Drink at least 80oz of water a day.
Drinking water is something that I’ve been struggling with and trying to work on since I quit drinking pop. I tend to not drink much during the day and end up really thirsty in the evening. So I need to fill my water bottle in the morning and keep filling it throughout the day to make sure that I’m drinking plenty of water.
- Exercise on my elliptical every day.
Exercise is important to keep our bodies moving and especially in the winter time it can be challenging because I am stuck inside most of the time. So I need to get back to using my elliptical every day and stop making excuses and just do it. I usually watch tv or videos on my phone while I’m exercising so that at least keeps me occupied during that time.
- Don’t go out to eat.
This is a big one for me because when I go out to eat, I tend to choose unhealthy foods and go overboard. I also have gotten into the habit of going out to eat after my WW workshop and end up using up all of my weeklies for it. So from now on I am going to come home right after my workshop and eat supper at home. This will help me start my week off right and I can break the cycle of wanting to go out to eat all the time.
So that is my plan for now. I am hoping to follow this plan and be more successful in my weightloss journey. Next year I turn 40 and I would love to be at my goal weight by then and I know I can do it as long as I stay focused and don’t give up.
